The first SAWANOBORI day of this year

In the middle of May, we, four members, went to a river canyon for SAWANOBORI.

SAWANOBBORI is the sports different from so-called CANYONING.

Both of them are the sports of using a variety of techniques including walking, scrambling, climbing, jumping, abseiling, swimming.

SAWANOBORI, however, is a kind of mountain climbing of going up a river canyon in Japan, whereas Canyoning (also known as canyoneering in U.S.) is the sports of travelling down canyons.

It was the first SAWANOBORI day of the year for us. And for two young members, it is first time to do SAWANOBORI.

This time, my partner chose the Kuzuha River Hondani in the Tanzawa mass in which the remaining snow would have already melted.

Moreover, the area around here is the habitat of leeches. In the summer, they occur in immense numbers.

Therefore, May is the best month for SAWANOBORI in this area.
