Extra edition No.7 DUBA PLAINS CAMP –THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LION –

PHOTO GALLERY 091227~091229

We have left Narita for Johannesburg via Hong Kong on Dec.26.
And on the following day, we have arrived at Maun that is the base of Okavango Delta safari in Botswana.
Our first Camp was Duba Plains Camp which is about 45 minutes flight by light aircraft from Maun.
The Camp is one of the Okavango Delta’s most remote camps and is built on an island shaded by large ebony, fig and mangosteen trees and surrounded by expansive plains.
And the Camp is very small which has only six guest twin room except main lodge.

It was a rainy season, but it seemed that a flood level was higher than usual, and actually, it was caused by heavy rain in Angola plateau during the past two years.
Therefore, we couldn't have seen too many wild animals compared to four years ago we had visited at the camp of Okavango delta.
They have dispersed in other places which were usually dry.
Actually, I heard from my husband that his friend saw some wild dogs in Makgadikgadi Pans.N.P. at Christmas.
But, we still enjoyed our many experience despite the flood level.
Our mother and aunt also have enjoyed every minute of Okavango life, driving, boating, mokoro, eating, siesta sleeping etc.

And they will never forget the story of their rescue from submerged and stuck vehicle in flooded rode as long as they live.

In addition, the beauty of Duba Plain’s lions by which we were bewitched is worthy of special mention.
They have been the most beautiful we had ever seen as if they have been like the characters of Jungle Emperor Leo, sometimes referred to as “Kimba the White Lion”.
It is the reason why they have owned the stock farm of buffaloes for their private use.
They have never gone hungry and have maintained good nutrition.
They move with their domestic animals and hunt one of them every two or three days.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t have seen the hunting. If you visit the Duba Plains Camp, I really recommend arranging accommodations for four-day three-night.
Then, you will see the entire picture of special hunting you can’t see maybe in Kenya or Tanzania.
